1964 Aku Aku Zombie Cocktail Recipe

The Aku Aku Zombie has a lighter and more refreshing taste as compared to the original Zombie recipe. This is because of the addition of grapefruit juice and bitters to it. This recipe was first concocted by Donn Beach, the inventor of the original Zombie in 1934.

Equipment

  • Mixer blender

Ingredients

  • 22.5 ml dark rum Jamaica
  • 22.5 ml golden rum Puerto Rico
  • 22.5 ml overproof rum Demarara
  • 22.5 ml cinnamon syrup
  • 22.5 ml white grapefruit juice
  • 1 dash of Angostura Bitters
  • 3 drops of triple sec
  • 3 drops of grenadine
  • 3 drops of falernum
  • 1 handful of crushed ice

Instructions

  • Put all ingredients in the blender and mix for five seconds
  • Pour into a glass, add ice cubes until the glass is full
  • Garnish with mint sprigs
