Producer: A. D. Rattray
Type: Whisky – Whiskey Malt
The Stronachie AD Rattray Single Malt 18 years is a high quality and very aromatic single malt whiskey, which is distributed by the independent bottler AD Rattray.
In its aroma, this Stronachie whiskey brings everything that lovers of a Highland malt appreciate. It is very intense in its smell and combines the sweetness of honey with hints of heather. There is also an intense note of malt. Subtle nuances of spice and lemon make the first olfactory impression perfect.
On the palate too the Stronachie 18 years old whisky is very promising. It is very full-bodied and has an oily-smooth texture. Malt, honey, a little pepper and a nice spiciness are the flavors that are noticeable. The whiskey ends with a rich as well as complex finish.
With an alcohol content of 46 percent, the Stronachie 18 is slightly stronger. Of course, that can be offset by the whiskey lover with a few drops of fresh spring water.
At the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2015, this Stronachie whiskey received a gold medal.
Stronachie – old specimen in new spendor
The name Stronachie originally referred to a distillery in the Highlands. In the Great Depression in the 1920s, both the distillery and the liquor disappeared from the market. It was only in 2002 that Tim Morrisson, a descendant of the then liquor traders, revived the company by founding the independent bottler AD Rattray.
The Stronachie AD Rattray Single Malt 18 years is a tribute to the then marketed whiskey. In addition, there is also a 10-year bottle in the series. In both cases, there is a distillate from the distillery Benrinnes in the bottles, which comes very close to the original Stronachie aromatic.
