Introduction: Bramble is a berry summer cocktail
The Bramble is a fruity cocktail with acidic notes of blackberries and lemon. It is perfect for somewhat warmer spring evenings and hot summer days. And it looks great with the black color transitioning to transparency of the gin.
The highlight of the bramble cocktail is its fresh ingredients. So we discourage you from using frozen blackberries or bottled lemon juice from the supermarket. The strong, slightly sour citrus aroma of a freshly squeezed lemon gives the Bramble its sour berry taste.
But if you don’t have fresh blackberries at hand, you should add approximately 20 ml blackberry liqueur to the cocktail.. Be careful not to use more than 20 ml with the measurements in the Bramble recipe below.
Ready-made lemon juice, on the other hand, is an absolute no-go. The flavors do not go well in the cocktail and cannot replace freshly squeezed lemon juice.

Unsuitable Gins for Bramble

Bombay Sapphire East
Rating: 1/5
The Bramble is subdued by Bombay Sapphire East gin flavors. This mixture has a very earthy aroma which is generally bad for cocktails.

Beefeater 24
rating: 2/5
The Bramble emphasizes the typical aroma of each gin. In this case, however, slight alcohol notes come through. The clear citrus aromas of Beefeater 24 gin dominate the bramble too much, which spoils the overall balance that this cocktail requires.
