You thought the combination of hot chocolate and red wine was really awesome? Then we have a drink that will blow your mind: chocolate martini!
A Chocolate Martini is creamy, tart, aromatic and has a wonderful cocoa taste. The vodka gives the drink that little bit of fire that it needs.
A word of caution: the combination of vodka and two liqueurs really hits the mark and makes this an easy to drink cocktail. But that is fine because when the chocolate martini gets warm, it tastes of stale, thin chocolate sauce. So drink up while the fun lasts!
Recommended crème de cacao
If you buy crème de cacao in the shop, you have the choice between a white and a dark one. The dark one is made from whole cocoa beans, whereas the white one is made only with the cocoa butter. De Kuyper’s dark crème de cacao is a good choice as it tastes relatively strongly of cocoa.
Recommended chocolate liqueur
A Godiva is used in the original recipe. But if it is difficult to get outside America, try getting your hands on Mozart Dark Chocolate. It has a deep, dark chocolate aroma, and is not very sweet. But it is still sweet enough to counter the bitter crème de cacao. Absolutely recommended, also for other chocolate cocktails.
Cream for the chocolate martini
If you want to make your Chocolate Martini creamy, add 1/2 oz cream to the list of ingredients. Use one with a lot of fat. You want the cream to make the drink even creamier rather than dilute it. Avoid low fat cream.

- 1 ounce Creme de Cacao
- 1 ounce vodka
- 1 tablespoon grated chocolate
- 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
- Coat the rim of a martini glass with chocolate syrup.
- Pour the chocolate liquor, creame de cacao, vodka and chocolate liqueur into a shaker with ice.
