The cocktail “Leap Year” presents a romantic mood. It was developed by Duncan McRae, brand ambassador for Hendrick’s Gin in the UK, based on a recipe published in the Savoy Cocktail Book by Harry Cradock back in 1830. One of its ingredients is Martini, which contains wild star anise. Wild star anise was especially appreciated in ancient Greece, who believed in the magical properties of medicinal herbs and aphrodisiacs.
Hendrick’s gin pairs well with this drink.
Leap Year Cocktail
- 50 ml Gin
- 12 ml Grand Marnier Liqueur
- 12 ml Red Martini
- 200 g Mango
- 3 ml Maraschino Liqueur
- 10 ml Freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Pour all the ingredients into a glass and mix with ice. When the ice begins to melt, strain into a martini glass (tea time martini glass), garnish with orange peel.
