Although kept as a secret by its inventor Don the Beachcomber, the original Zombie cocktail recipe was finally put together by Beachbum Berry in 2005. Here is how this fruity, perfectly balanced sweet and sour rum drink was made.

Original Zombie Recipe from 1934
Equipment
- Mixer blender
- Bar spoon
- Lemon juicer
Ingredients
- 45 ml golden rum Puerto Rico
- 45 ml golden rum Jamaica
- 30 ml Overproof Rum Demarara
- 15 ml falernum
- 22.5 ml lime juice
- 15 ml “Don’s Mix” 10 ml grapefruit juice, 5 ml cinnamon syrup
- 1 dash Angostura Bitters
- 6 drops of Pernod
- 1 bar spoon Grenadine
- 1 handful crushed ice
Instructions
- Put all ingredients in the blender
- Blend for five seconds
- Add ice cubes to a glass until it is full
- Pour the mix into the glass
- Garnish with sprigs of mint
