Gin and Tonic with Strawberries and Balsamic Float

  • Ice cubes
  • Jigger (measuring cup)
  • 1 tumbler


  • 60 ml London Dry Gin
  • 200 ml mild tonic water
  • 1 ripe strawberry
  • 2 cm ginger
  • 25 ml balsamic vinegar
  • 25 g sugar
  • 1/8 lemon juice
  • 1/4 bunch basil


  • Put the balsamic vinegar and sugar in a saucepan and simmer for 5 minutes. Stir continuously. Add lemon juice and keep aside to cool down.
  • Put the gin in the glass and fill with ice to the brim.
  • Cut ginger and strawberries lengthways into thin strips and stick to the inside of the glass rim.
  • Pour in tonic water. Place the basil in the hole hand and clap it once with the flat hand to release the essential oils.
  • Stir the gin and tonic twice with a spoon handle. Put the ginger and basil in the glass at the top.
  • Slowly pour the balsamic syrup into the glass from above and stir 4 times with a spoon handle.
